Anchorage police responded to a shooting outside of a bar in downtown Anchorage that left a man in critical condition.
According to APD Public Information Officer Jennifer Castro, an adult male was visiting a relative who works at Bernie's Bungalow Lounge on 7th Ave. and D St. The male left the bar shortly before 1 a.m. and as he was exiting through Bernie's rear gate on 7th Ave., a vehicle pulled up. A male got out of the vehicle and shot the other male "four times in the lower region of his body," Castro said. The shooting suspect got back into the vehicle and fled the scene.
According to Casto, a security guard performed first aid on the victim until medics arrived at the scene.
"A security guard at the bar was able to come out and conduct some lifesaving measures on the victim," Castro said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
This is an ongoing investigation and police believe the shooting was intentional and not a random act of violence. Anyone with additional information regarding the shooting is asked to call (907) 786-8900.
