Kodiak police say a 15-year-old boy has been taken into custody and charged with assault following the shooting of a 16-year-old boy at a home.
KMXT reports the older boy was visiting the home of another teen Sunday night when the shotgun shooting occurred. Kodiak police say the 16-year-old boy is in critical condition.
Police Chief T.C. Kamai says police responded to a report that the boy was accidentally shot by the other boy. Kamai says detectives are investigating the shooting.
Kamai says there may be additional charges in the case. Police have not released either boy's name.
The wounded boy was taken to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center. Kamai says his understanding is that the teen was taken to Anchorage for further treatment.
