The body of missing Anchorage woman Martha Levensaler, 58, was discovered amongst some rocks near the water's edge a short distance away from mile 108 of the Seward Highway.

The discovery was made following a possible sighting by Alaska Railroad workers sometime around 10 a.m., according to Alaska State Troopers officials.

The State Medical Examiner's office will perform an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. Levensaler's next of kin have been notified.

Original report

Alaska State Troopers are looking for an Anchorage woman last seen Tuesday morning, after her husband found her vehicle at Beluga Point on the Seward Highway Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Wednesday AST dispatch, 58-year-old Martha Levensaler's husband called troopers just before 4 p.m. Tuesday to report finding her vehicle, describing her as despondent when he'd last seen her Tuesday morning.

"He had become concerned about her when she would not respond to messages, she missed an appointment and did not check in with work," troopers wrote.

AST's Helo-3 conducted a search for Levensaler in Turnagain Arm from Mile 105 to Mile 113 of the highway, but no sign of her was found.

AST spokesperson Megan Peters hadn't heard of a road closure on the Seward Wednesday, but says search activities are continuing on the highway near Beluga Point.

"It's ongoing," Peters said. "People are probably going through the area slow, just looking."

Troopers say Levensaler has been listed as a missing person.

Channel 2's Joshua Staab contributed to this report.
