Police Actively Seeking Armed Sexual Assault Suspect

Anchorage Police reported two incidents of sexual assault with a suspect still at large.

The incidents occurred in the Mountain View area on Tuesday and Wednesday.  According to police, in both cases the suspect followed the victims before approaching with a weapon and forcing them into a secluded area.

The first incident occurred Tuesday, July 16, near the 200 block of N Hoyt Street around 4:15 a.m.  The second incident occurred the following day, near Bragaw Street and Pendland Parkway just before 7:00 p.m. 

Police described the suspect as a darker skinned male, between the ages of 20 and 30, with a thin build, short cropped hair, and a faint goatee.  He may have a mustache, wear diamond stud earrings, and is reported to have a full sleeve tattoo on his right arm, according to police.

Police caution the suspect is reportedly armed with a handgun.

Police report both victims were walking alone at the time of the incident, and advise citizens to use caution when walking alone and to walk in groups if possible.

Anyone with information as to the identity of this man is asked to contact APD at 786-8900 or, to remain anonymous, call Anchorage Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP (7867).  If you see someone matching the suspect's description following you, call 911 immediately.
