Workers whose jobs were affected by spring flooding in Alaska may be eligible for disaster unemployment.
In a release (PDF), the state labor department says the deadline to apply is Monday.
Labor Commissioner Dianne Blumer says Alaskans living or working within communities declared disaster areas -- who were unable to work as a direct result of the flooding in May and June -- may be eligible for assistance.
"Alaskans who wish to apply should call 888-252-2557 and ask for Disaster Unemployment Assistance," state officials wrote. "Applicants will need to provide social security number, contact information for their most recent employer and dates worked. Self-employed applicants should be prepared to provide information about their self-employment and earnings, including financial documents such as 2012 Federal tax forms."
Affected communities include Galena, Eagle, Tok, Circle, Fort Yukon and Emmonak.
