Ketchikan Seeks Borough Money for 911 Call Service

The Ketchikan city manager is threatening to cut off 911 calls from outside the city unless borough residents pick up more of the tab to operate the dispatch center.
   
Ketchikan city manager Karl Amylon says if the borough doesn't want to negotiate a new agreement, the city could discontinue the service after July 1.
   
The Ketchikan Daily News (http://bit.ly/186uYuq) reports Amylon is requesting that the borough pay $170,000 and $210,000 to defray dispatch center costs.
   
Borough Manager Dan Bockhorst says Amylon's comments last week at a Ketchikan Joint Cooperative Relations Committee were inappropriate.
   
He says the committee is just starting to discuss shared dispatch costs and Amylon's ultimatum was abrupt.
