Two men died in a plane crash about 10 miles north of Sutton, a community in the Mat-Su Borough.
Alaska State Troopers identified the plane's occupants as 30-year-old Adam Norton and 31-year-old Derrik Swanson, both of Palmer.
Norton and Swanson were supposed to return to the Knik Lake area by 7 p.m. after scouting moose, according to AST spokeswoman Megan Peters, and by 9:45 p.m. the plane was reported overdue.
The Alaska Air National Guard responded with a helicopter and C130, and the plane was found at 3:52 a.m.
Hazy weather conditions and the plane's crash into a ravine complicated identification, but troopers recovered the bodies and identified the passengers using wallets Friday afternoon.
Next of kin has been notified.
