U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller says the United States "has no business involving itself in the Syrian civil war."

Miller, in a statement, said with no vital national security interest at stake and no attainable military objective, he would vote against a military strike against Syria.

Miller is one of the GOP candidates planning to run for the U.S. Senate seat held by Democrat Mark Begich. Begich last week said he doesn't support Obama's resolution authorizing a military strike and has reservations about a draft congressional resolution.

Another Republican, Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell, said in a statement last week that Obama had not made the case that action in Syria would not lead to more violence beyond Syria's borders. He said he looked forward to hearing more from Obama.
