One person has been killed and another injured in the crash of a small plane in the Big Lake area Monday afternoon, according to Alaska State Troopers.
AST spokesperson Megan Peters says troopers initially received conflicting reports about the status of one victim in the crash near Beaver Lake, which was reported at about 1 p.m. By 3:30 p.m., the person who had initially been reported dead was confirmed dead.
Peters says troopers plan to fly to the scene on board AST's Helo-2.
"We will be heading out with troopers to investigate," Peters said. "We're not on scene yet."
Troopers have no indication as to the cause of the crash. The victims' names are being held, pending notification of their next of kin.
