Are you looking for a Christmas tree? ‘Tis the season to head to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge if you want to do it yourself.
People can cut down a tree for free beginning on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28 until Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25 at the Kenai refuge.
There are some simple guidelines you’ll need to follow:
Must use hand tools.Trim stumps as close to the ground as possible.One tree per household.No trees within 150 feet road, lake, stream, trail, campground, or picnic area.Also, no tree cutting refuge headquarters/visitor center area and along ski hill road.
