An 18-month old North Pole boy had burns on his body when he died, not frostbite, according to a state medical examiner's report. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports Amber Lynn Aubrey Swanson is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her son, Julian Swanson-Byrd. Swanson told Alaska State Troopers that she drove the boy Nov. 29 to calm him down and parked at a gravel pit east of Fairbanks. She claimed she fell asleep and awakened to find a car window down and the boy asleep in the snow. She said the he was cold but alive and died Saturday. The medical examiner concluded the child died of blunt force trauma to the head and that his body had extensive bruising. Swanson was arraigned Thursday.
