A Juneau-area dog owner is contesting a citation he received after one of his dogs allegedly attacked another dog that later died. The Juneau Empire reports Jody Vick had pleaded not guilty to the non-criminal minor offense of "objectionable menacing." Animal Control officer Matt Musslewhite says Vick was walking four dogs when one of them, a Mastiff-Pit bull mix, attacked a Shih Tzu-Pomeranian mix named Sophie last month in Douglas. Musslewhite says the incident was unprovoked. Sophie later died. Animal Control received different accounts about whether Vick's dogs were leashed at the time and was still following up with witnesses. Vick's dog has since been classified as "dangerous," a classification that Musslewhite says Vick is contesting.
