The Hope Community Resources 44th Annual Walk & Roll for Hope event starts Saturday, May 4, at the west end of the Delany Park Strip in Anchorage. Check-in for the event will open at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:00 a.m.

According to a Katie Johnston, a spokesperson for Hope Community Resources, registration for this event is not required, but a donation of $25 is suggested.

"If you want to come down and show your support, we'd love to have you," said Johnston.

For the past 44 years the Walk & Roll for Hope has raised funds to benefit individuals with disabilities and help them achieve their dreams. Last year, the event raised over $100,000.

Individuals or teams can sign up for this event; groups are encouraged to create customized team t-shirts or wear fun costumes.

The Walk & Roll for Hope offers three distances to choose from: a 5K Walk or 16K Roll along the Coastal Trail, or a Walk Lite option around the Park Strip. Following the walk, hot dogs and other fun activities will be available for all participants.

Three additional Walk's are taking place across the state in Kodiak, Ketchikan, and the Kenai Peninsula.

To register for the Walk & Roll for Hope or for more information visit the Hope Community Resources website.
