A woman critically injured in a South Anchorage collision involving a sedan and a pickup truck Thursday night has died of her injuries, according to local police. APD spokesperson Jennifer Castro says in a Monday statement that Ponesi Tufi, 29, died Saturday in the O’Malley Road crash. Police say the crash occurred just after 6 p.m. Thursday, near O’Malley’s intersection with Livingston Street. Tufi, the front-seat passenger of the sedan, was the only person in the crash to receive life-threatening injuries. The driver and two other passengers of the sedan, as well as the driver and both passengers in the pickup, were all taken to local hospitals. Police closed O’Malley between Lake Otis Parkway and Livingston for at least two hours as they investigated the crash.
Castro says Monday that the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation. This is a developing story. Please check KTUU.com and the Channel 2 newscasts for updates.
