Mushers and others are reporting seeing bloodied grizzly tracks on trails near Denali National Park. Four-time Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race champion Jeff King lives in the area. He tells the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner that he saw fresh, bloody bear tracks Wednesday. He followed them for about a mile but eventually turned around. He says the thought of running into a bloody bear in January didn't appeal to him. Officials believe the bear was injured, possibly catching a paw in a wolf trap. It also could have been stomped by a moose or hit by a car. Wildlife officials say it's not unusual to get reports of a bear being active during the winter. The bear may not be hibernating because it's old, didn't den properly, is sick or hungry.
