At least one bear in Juneau isn't ready to hibernate.
Several residents have reported a bear or its tracks. Wildlife officials say residents should continue being vigilant with their garbage.
Ryan Scott of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game says food is the most likely explanation. Either the bear hasn't eaten enough to settle down for winter, or there's enough food available that it doesn't feel the need to go into hibernation.
