At least five landslides have been caused by persistent and sometimes heavy rains in and around Kodiak, triggering traffic delays. KMXT says one of the landslides prompted a detour to the main route into the city Friday. Police say a landslide is blocking Rezanof Drive West near a pier, forcing commuter traffic to take Shelikof Street. Police say people should avoid Alder Way, a steep, short road in a densely packed neighborhood that overlooks downtown harbors. The hillside has become unstable, and police say emergency crews are at the scene evaluating the situation. At least four of the landslides have deposited debris in the road near Women's Bay. Crews are at the scene and clearing a landslide at Shannon Point.
