A recycling company will no longer collect plastics at its Fairbanks-area bins.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports (http://is.gd/e3ubB5 ) the sudden decision by K&K Recycling caught some borough officials by surprise.

A K&K employee told the newspaper Friday that the company has stored enough plastics that it doesn't need more until it can be used.

The company plans to continue taking aluminum, glass, cardboard, paper and tin.

Some options remain for plastics recycling in Fairbanks, but they're more restrictive than the wide-ranging program offered by K&K for the past three years.
