Anchorage police say they are investigating the death of a man discovered in Chester Creek at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to APD spokeswoman, Anita Shell, the man's body was found by a woman who was walking her dogs near 19th Avenue and C Streets.

Shell wrote in a press release that officers discovered the lifeless body of a Native male between the ages of 40 and 50 years old, partially submerged in the creek.

Police say the preliminary investigation did not reveal any signs of foul play and the man did not appear to have any form of identification.

APD says the man may have been homeless and witnesses say the man was not there on Friday.

The Medical Examiner's office responded to the scene and is conducting an investigation.
