Firefighting training exercises are set to be held at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport this week.
Deputy airport police and fire chief Dave Schulling says the yearly exercise is set to take place Thursday and Friday.
Schulling says the airport's 69 officers, who do both police and firefighting work, will participate.
Plumes of smoke may be visible during the exercises at the airport's self-contained burn pit facility.
According to officials, live fire exercises are conducted to meet Federal Aviation Administration training requirements for firefighting crews and aircraft rescues.
