Alaska State Troopers are investigating a domestic violence stabbing that that led to two men arrested and a victim hospitalized for treatment Sunday night.
The Troopers’ Fairbanks Rural Unit responded to a call after 5 p.m. Sunday in Venetie, a community of about 200 approximately 155 miles northeast of Fairbanks.
The initial call was for a “stabbing complaint,” Trooper dispatch reported.
At the scene, investigators found evidence of the assault and arrested Earle W. Erick, Sr., 56, and Chance I. Erick, 19, both of Venetie. The third man, a victim related to the Ericks, was assaulted while he slept, according to AST spokesperson Megan Peters.
"It appears that there is an existing disagreement between the parties about several dogs," Peters wrote Monday, which led to the assault.
Troopers say both men face four counts of second-degree assault, two counts of first-degree burglary, one count of third-degree assault, and two counts of fourth-degree assault.
Troopers noted that all the charges were related to domestic violence. The burglary charge stems form entering a home to commit a crime.
Both men were transported and booked into the Fairbanks Correctional Center.
The victim was taken to a Fairbanks hospital and released after treatment.
Troopers say the investigation is ongoing.
