The Juneau Empire has a new publisher.
Morris Publishing Group, LLC announced Friday that Rustan Burton has been appointed to the post. Burton is the advertising director at The Daily Republic in Mitchell, S.D., and scheduled to begin his job as publisher in Juneau on June 10.
Burton succeeds Mark Bryan, who resigned last month.
Morris, in a release, says Burton began his media career at The Anchorage Daily News in 2008, where he held positions including retail sales manager.
Burton says he is happy to be returning to Alaska. He says he looks forward to meeting the people in Juneau and finding new ways to promote the community.
