A Juneau man is being held on multiple assault charges after Juneau police say he stabbed his sister more than a dozen times Friday afternoon. Court records show the suspect -- 33-year-old Wayne Walter Williams -- has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault. According to a Juneau Police Department statement on the stabbing, officers first received a report of the stabbing shortly before 4:30 p.m. Friday. “The caller, who was the victim of the assault, reported being stabbed multiple times by her brother, who was armed with a knife,” police wrote in a statement on the case. While responding police and medics found the 22-year-old victim, who was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital, there was no sign of Williams at the scene. “It was later determined by hospital staff that the victim had sustained 14 stab wounds,” police wrote. “These injuries, although serious, do not appear to be life-threatening.” Juneau police had put out a warning to residents to report sightings of Williams, considered armed and dangerous because officers hadn’t recovered the knife used in the stabbing. A resident reported seeing Williams on a Douglas Island beach at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday, with police arresting him to be held at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center without bail. Dispatchers referred further questions on the stabbing to JPD spokesperson Lt. David Campbell, who wasn’t available Monday due to the Seward’s Day holiday. Williams’ criminal record includes numerous convictions for theft, as well as two assault convictions in which he pleaded no contest to the charges. Prosecutors dropped another charge in each assault, including theft by shoplifting in a June 2009 case and malicious destruction of property in an October 2010 incident.
