JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) -
The University of Alaska Southeast has gained approval for a program to help teachers become better online instructors.
The Juneau Empire reports (http://bit.ly/11oXh2f) that UAS's new 18-credit curriculum was approved by the Alaska State Board of Education and Early Development on Thursday.
Alaska's certified teachers can take the program in order to get "endorsed" by the Department of Education and Early Development for distance delivery and e-learning.
The courses should help teachers better learn to prepare and execute online classes of their own.
Associate education professor Lee Graham says all the courses in the program are prepared and offered by UAS, but students throughout the university system can enroll in them because they are offered online.
