Alaska State Troopers and medical personnel responded to a 911 call for help on Flattop Mountain early Saturday morning.
Troopers received a call at 1 a.m. Saturday of an injured hiker near the top of the mountain. AST, along with Alaska Mountain Rescuers and a LifeMed helicopter, responded and found 33-year-old Stefan Von Mergle-Grote of Australia a few hundred yards from Flattop's summit. Mergle-Grote suffered from an injured ankle.
The LifeMed helicopter transported Mergle-Grote to a local hospital. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
