An Ouzinkie man who was critically injured in a May all-terrain vehicle died of his wounds last week, according to Alaska State Troopers.

An AST dispatch says troopers were informed Monday of 50-year-old James A. Broaten's Friday death at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, where he was being treated after the crash.

Kodiak troopers were informed of an overturned ATV with injuries at 9:10 a.m. on May 23.

"VPSO (Travis) Sheppard reported (Broaten) was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash when his ATV left the roadway and rolled over," troopers wrote.

A Coast Guard helicopter from Air Station Kodiak flew Broaten in critical condition to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center, where he was subsequently stabilized for transport via air ambulance to Anchorage.

Troopers responded to Ouzinkie by boat to investigate the incident. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
