Cocktails for a Cause brought out breast cancer supporters both young and old Wednesday night at Ginger in Downtown Anchorage.
The annual event raises money for the American Cancer Society.
It is also when many people start forming teams for the family walk, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, which is held in October.
The cocktail party made $5,520 in ticket sales. There was also a silent auction.
Breast cancer survivor Carey Carpenter said she's done the walk for three years now.
"You go through cancer treatment and you get hit with the realization, that for me, at 34-years-old, that my body was trying to kill me. So now everything I do it's all about living life," Carpenter said.
