A task force charged with studying education funding in Alaska is seeking public members.
HR8, which created the task force, calls for five public members on the panel: two educators, two "businesspersons," and someone representing the Alaska Federation of Natives or an Alaska Native regional corporation.
Applications are due by Sunday.
Republican Reps. Lynn Gattis and Tammie Wilson co-chair the task force. House Speaker Mike Chenault will appoint the remaining members in consultation with them.
The panel also is to include another legislator.
The application includes questions such as the individual's view on public education and school funding and whether increasing the per-pupil funding formula "will solve most of or all financial problems" for Alaska schools.
Many House Republicans have resisted raising the funding formula, something Democrats have supported.
