Kodiak had its seventh warmest July and ninth driest July on record this year.
The Kodiak Daily Mirror says no days topped 80 degrees, with the warmest recorded at 78 degrees on July 22. However, the combined effect of so many warm days brought the average July temperature to 58 degrees.
That's the highest average for the month since 1979, when the average was 58.6 degrees.
The warmest July on record was 60.4 degrees, measured in 1936 and 1899.
July's rainfall totaled 1.06 inches this year. That's the driest Kodiak July since 1967, when 1.01 inches were recorded.
The driest July on record was 0.58 inches in 1915.
