Alaska State Troopers responded in the early morning hours of Aug. 24 to Mile 111 of Richardson Highway to find 29-year-old Isaac Hofstetter holding another man at gunpoint.
Hofstetter said he noticed two men outside his residence attempting to steal his vehicle.
Hofstetter grabbed a gun, headed outside and confronted the men. He pursued them on foot, and caught up to 18-year-old Walter Blackwell of Anchorage, according to a trooper dispatch.
AST said an investigation revealed Blackwell, 22-year-old Xavier Aquino of Anchorage and a 17-year-old from Tazlina were responsible for another vehicle theft.
The vehicle allegedly stolen by the three men was a total loss and was released to the owner.
All three were charged with vehicle theft and multiple counts of criminal mischief.
