Alaska State Troopers say a Fairbanks woman was drunk and at the wheel of a stolen vehicle when she came close to hitting troopers who were responding to a medic call early Tuesday morning. According to a Tuesday AST dispatch, the incident involving 27-year-old Marthaann Arabie occurred just after 4 a.m., while troopers were working with emergency medical services. “Fairbanks AST were assisting EMS with a patient transport when they were nearly run over by a driver in a red Plymouth Breeze,” troopers wrote. “Investigation revealed (Arabie) was the driver of the vehicle.” AST spokesperson Megan Peters didn’t have further details of the incident Tuesday morning, including its exact location and whether Arabie led troopers on a chase. Arabie was arrested on a litany of offenses, including felony counts of DUI and refusing to stop at the direction of a peace officer, two counts each of third-degree assault and violating conditions of release, and one count each of first-degree vehicle theft, reckless driving and driving with a revoked license. She was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.
