Gov. Sean Parnell's omnibus education bill has encountered a bump in the road over a provision that would provide transportation for students in charter schools.
At a House Education Committee hearing Wednesday, Rep. Paul Seaton said the bill would have money for the transportation of charter school children taken from a school district's transportation fund.
The Homer Republican says that has the potential to destroying the effectiveness of a school district's transportation fund.
Susan McCauley of the Alaska Department of Education told the committee the bill was tailored to provide some sort of basic transportation for charter school students.
