A 46-year-old Anchorage man was convicted Wednesday for sexually assaulting his adult daughter in his Spenard apartment.
In order to protect the woman's identity, the man’s name is not being released.
An Anchorage jury found him guilty on charges of sexual assault and incest for the attack.
In a release from the Anchorage District Attorney’s office Wednesday evening, court officials described the events of the August 21, 2012 attack.
Court records state that, in the early morning hours of August 21, the man invited his then-20-year-old daughter to spend the night at his apartment after she had been drinking. His daughter fell asleep on his bed, but awoke to find the man had stripped her clothes off and sexually assaulted her.
She pushed her father off of her, got dressed, and fled from the apartment Court records show she went to a friend’s house and called police. Prior to his latest conviction, the man had been previously convicted of attempting to sexually abuse a minor daughter in 2000 in Nome. He also has three prior assault convictions, including a felony assault.
Court officials say, based on his criminal history and prior convictions, the man faces 20 to 35 years in prison. The man is expected to be sentenced July 11.
