Work has resumed on a $2.6 million renovation project at the ferry terminal in Petersburg.
KFSK reports Tamico Construction of Petersburg is replacing some mooring structures this month.
Jeremy Woodrow is a spokesman for the Alaska Department of Transportation. He says the project will remove and replace up to four pile support mooring and breasting dolphins at the terminal.
The dolphins, which are metal pilings driven into the sea floor, hold the ferry in place while its docked.
There also will be some repair work done on the catwalk between the mooring dolphins.
Ferry service won't be interrupted during construction.
