An Anchorage School District employee, accused of being a fugitive from justice in connection with two counts of sex abuse in Wyoming, made his first court appearance Friday afternoon at the Anchorage Jail Court.
The court arraigned Samuel Douglas Brost, 25, after receiving a complaint based on a warrant in Wyo.
According to WY court documents filed in early June, Brost was charged with two counts of sexually abusing a minor in the second degree.
Brost allegedly committed two separate incidents in Wyoming, once in 2009 and once in 2007, with children under the age of 13. He quit his WY job in 2010 and moved to Alaska with his mom, according to court papers.
At the arraignment, Brost's defense pointed out that Brost had no prior convictions and that, "he is not a fugitive in the sense that he has left with a warrant trailing behind him, he just finds himself at the wrong jurisdiction at the present time."
Brost worked with the ASD information technology department. ASD officials said Brost did not work in a position where he came into regular contact with children.
His bail was set at $15,000 cash-only and he will have a bail review hearing on Tuesday, June 25.
