A Juneau jury has convicted a California man of conspiring to supply a prescription pain killer to illegal drug dealers.
The Juneau Empire reports Richard Corum of Sacramento also was convicted of witness tampering. He will be sentenced in October.
Prosecutors say the scheme from 2007 to 2011 netted millions for the conspirators, who bought Oxycontin for $13 per pill and sold it in Juneau for $60 to $120.
Defense attorney Peter Offenbecher urged jurors to reject the testimony of co-conspirators, calling them "experienced liars" who were promised shorter sentences for testifying against Corum.
Offenbecher acknowledged that Corum punched a person tied to the case in jail but said the blow was in self-defense.
Prosecutors say 30 to 40 people with ties to the drug trafficking have been arrested.
