The Kenai Police Department has identified the individuals involved in a Tuesday night shooting at the Home Depot parking lot. Police are now searching for a witness who may have been parked near the shooting.
According to a press release from KPD Lt. David Ross, a 911 call was received from Ezekiel Johnston, 25, of Kenai, around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Johnston reported that "he was being pursued by an individual that was going to beat him up."
As Kenai police officers responded to Johnston's report, multiple 911 calls were received reporting a shooting in the Home Depot parking lot.
Investigation revealed that Cole Sprinkle, 23, of Wasilla, was pursuing Johnston in a white Chevy pickup. Johnston, according to KPD, was in a "Honda passenger car." The pursuit ended in the Home Depot parking lot, where Sprinkle attempted to enter the driver's side of the Honda. Sprinkle then "smashed the driver-side window with his fist." It was at that time that Johnston shot Sprinkle with a handgun three times.
Sprinkle was transported to Central Peninsula Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to Lt. Ross, the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
Investigators are currently seeking the owner of a blue Ford pickup that was parked close to where the shooting occured in the Home Depot parking lot. Please contact the Kenai Police Department at (907) 283-7879.
