The chief of the Kodiak Police Department says he's preparing to retire.
T.C. Kamai tells radio station KMXT that this month marks his 25th year in the department and he plans to leave for another career.
The 47-year-old Kamai says it's been no secret that he planned to evaluate his own status. He says he told his staff and the city manager that he would look around and make a decision.
He says he will take a new job with the Kodiak Area Native Association as coordinator of village public safety officers.
