The state Personnel Board is looking for attorneys interested in investigating ethics complaints against members of the executive branch.
Nicki Neal is director of the state Division of Personnel and Labor Relations. She says the request for proposals released this week was not in response to any pending complaints against the governor, lieutenant governor or attorney general.
She says it's been the board's practice the last few years to have contracts for independent counsel in place in case they're needed.
The solicitation says it's expected that three contracts will be awarded, with work distributed equitably among the contractors.
Proposals are due June 26.
It's not clear how much the work might cost. Neal says the contract term would be for one year with the option of four, one-year renewal periods.
